WORKING WITH CAREERS SERVICES

Graduate Careers Ireland (GCI) is the professional association for careers services in higher education in Ireland, north and south. GCI members have contact with large and small employers, at home and abroad, which they are keen to develop and extend. You can read below about some of the ways in which Careers Services work with employers.

Professional advice on recruitment

GCI and GCI member services have extensive experience in every aspect of graduate recruitment and have always shared their knowledge and advice freely with employers of all sizes and from every sector. We can help you with any or all of the following:

  • Raising your profile on campus
  • Working more closely with academic departments
  • Which advertising media to use
  • Which Recruitment/Careers Fairs to attend
  • Advice on the recruitment of students with disabilities
  • Advice on new vacation training programmes
  • Advice on recruiting non-traditional students

Bringing employers and careers services together

GCI works to bring employers and careers services together to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern. Throughout the year, there are a number of events that employers attend which focus on key issues and provide you with an invaluable networking opportunity to meet other recruiters and careers professionals.

Championing graduate recruitment throughout Ireland

GCI also has a wider role in promoting the benefits of graduates to the economy of Ireland, in promoting the development of graduate recruitment into new sectors and within smaller companies and in making our voice heard in government circles, with employer organizations and in the national press.GCI and GCI members are involved in the following:

Recruiting locally or from selected colleges

GCI member Careers Services will help you to advertise your vacancies, placement/vacation programmes and temporary work opportunities. It’s a simple and effective service. Over 80 per cent of all students use their careers services and this ensures that your vacancies reach the right people quickly. GCI member Careers Services offer you:

  • Advice on their college's courses, graduate availability and recruitment procedures.
  • The opportunity to advertise your vacancies and all your other recruitment needs through individual Careers Services.
  • A means to promote your organisation's profile on campus.
  • Interview facilities on campus where possible.
  • Local advice on where and when to hold presentations.
  • Easy access to third level students and graduates.
  • Opportunities to meet students through recruitment and careers fairs, company presentations and other activities.
  • An all year round commitment to your needs.

We are happy to meet with you on campus or at your place of work to discuss all aspects of recruiting students and graduates. We have the local knowledge and we can help you promote your organisation and vacancies to the student body.
